I didn’t start posting here to go viral. I started because LinkedIn was boring. Like in the *please clap* kind of way. I had 1,200 followers mostly from posting Google jobs. (Still a top-tier growth hack, by the way.) Then one day I thought: What if I posted like myself? Dry humor. Dashboard pain. Corporate nonsense. And occasionally something actually useful. Turns out LinkedIn likes all of that, but not everyone gets it. I posted an intentionally terrible chart a couple of days ago and still had people in the comments like “Actually, this isn't best practice.” Brother in AlgoChrist. The font was in Comic Sans. What surprised me most is the people. I’ve found a community here that’s smart, hilarious, supportive, and just as weird as me. I've made actual friends. Built Dashboard Confessionals with Morgan. And turned the comments section into a full-on variety show. So here’s what I’ve learned: - The rules are fake - The block button is real - Banter in the comments > any post - If everyone likes your content, it probably sucks - Showing up as yourself will attract the right people, and that’s the best part See you in the comments. -- I'm ????Bill with the deepest apologies to everyone who has the bells on for me this morning ??
now all we need is the Dashboard for Cutie superband tour.
????Bill Yost brother, why you apologizing? Let them block you, they have the power to not comment, in respect to having ‘bells on’ ( I’m saying this a lot lately’) I can relate to that. But honestly, I.D.G.A.F. If people are rattled, people like us, we’re in the open ?? For example, LI - they turned off automatic spell check. ?? for me only ??
Ah, you bring up the Comic Sans, which means you must not know the Fabiola story yet :)
Here for the banter and thinking to myself, “damn you’re weird. Ok lets be friends”
Lol @ brother in algochrist
Thank goodness u are here to help us have a fun, human experience on LinkedIn ????Bill Yost ??????
“Brother in AlgoChrist” took me out ??. You’ve built something special here, Bill. Proof that when you lead with realness (and just enough nonsense), the right people find you. See you in the comments, captain.
Honestly, I stayed away from LinkedIn for years because it felt so dry and that’s just not my personality. I’m the kind of person that gets deep right away. And for the people who only like to talk about sports and the weather and the water cooler gossip, I can’t even do it ?? But I am here showing up for my business and for my future soulmate clients who also don’t like cookie cutter corporate things. So hello, a fellow human with a life other than work trying to be a real human on LinkedIn.
